We had an AMAZING day at Mountsberg Conservation Area today for our Field Trip! Take a peek into all our fun below! :)
Happy Wednesday! We had such a fantastic day today! We started with our calendar and RAP, and then jumped into our math - today we explored HALVES in fractions. We talked about what a Numerator and a Denominator is, and how to write a fraction properly. We did lots of practise with this today! Afterwards, we explored our new Social Studies Unit - Our Local Community! We discussed as a class what a community is, and what is important about a community. We then looked at important locations within the community and the services they provide. We also sang a fun "In Our Community" song! Awesome job kiddos! Notes: A reminder that our Feild Trip to Mountsberg is tomorrow! :) Have a lovely night! Mrs. Reid Another terrific Tuesday in Grade 1. We started with our Library exchange, and then jumped into our calendar and RAP routine. Afterwards, we worked on our GRASS Problem Solving booklets. Everyone is becoming fantastic critical thinkers and we are learning to justify and defend our Math solutions and strategies! Afterwards, we had a mini-introduction to or new math unit on Fractions! We sorted equal versus unequal parts and then started working in our Fraction Booklets. Class 1-5 had music with Ms. Konopka. Notes: Tonight's homework is DeamBox! Have lovely night! Mrs. Reid Happy Monday families! We started our day by switching classroom jobs and then our calendar and RAP routine. We then started working on a new Eric Carle Problem Solving Math booklet - we looked at using the GRASS Method to ready word problems and deconstruct them to make sure we are answering the questions properly. We did the fisrt question together as a class today! We also had IT today where we worked on a variety of fun games and interactive activities. We continued with our Problem Solving after IT, and we had a Fire Drill today. A friendly reminder that we do not speak and walk quickly and quietly during a fire drill. Once we are outside, we need to stay quiet to listen to the next instructions to hear if it is safe to enter the building. Notes: Tonight's homework is print the weekly words in your agenda and practise the RAP. Have a lovely night! Mrs. Reid We had such a fun day today to celebrate all our hard work with the Spring Concert! We started with our weekly words quiz, then jumped into our calendar and RAP. Afterwards, we had our measurement test where we measured objects, used descriptive words and used our estimating skills. Afterwards, we decided if some students were harmful or helpful with their actions to keep the Earth clean. Everyone did a great job! We then watched The Lorax and discussed as a class the differences we noticed between the book and the movie. Notes: This weekend's homework is Sharing Books for the letter Y. Please remember the field trip forms! Have a fabulous weekend! Mrs. Reid Wow! I have never been so proud of a bunch of kiddos! Our Spring Concert was absolutely amazing! Thank you so much to all the parents, families and friends who came out to watch! Class 1-5 spent some time today learning about Area, which 1-6 did yesterday. We were pretty exhausted after the concert, so we worked in our Readding Stamina, had calendar and performed our RAP, and had a relaxing afternoon watching Frankin Plants a Tree in support of Earth Day. Notes: Tonight homework is to practise for the Weekly Words quiz! Also, please return the Field Trip forms as soon as possible! Volunteers are needed!!! Happy Earth Day! We had a great time celebrating and discussing how to take care of our planet! After our calendar and RAP, we read the story The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, and then talked about ways we could help the Lorax. We wrote our ideas down in our Lorax booklets. We are going to finish these up tomorrow. We also watched a BrainPop on how to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle! So much earth day fun! We also had a special treat and got to watch the Grade 2 Spring concert today! They did a great job! We then spent some time working with Ms. Konopka to practise our Spring Concert presentation. Notes: Tonight's homework is RazKids. Please return the field trip forms asap! Also, tomorrow is the spring concert at noon. Please make sure your child is wearing his/her scarecrow attire (blue jeans, plaid shirt, straw hat if you have one). Have a great night! Mrs. Reid We had a busy Tuesday! We started with our calendar routine and then jumped into math. Today we learned about mass and looked at comparing two objects and deciding which one was heavier, or had a greater mass. Afterwards, we had some time to practise for our upcoming Spring Concert with Ms. Konopka. We also shared our sharing books today! Notes: Tonight's homework is DreamBox. Don't forget about our Spring Concert on Thursday! Have a lovely night! Mrs. Reid We had a marvelous Monday! We started with our morning routines and spent some time working in our Earth Day Posters! They are almost finished! We then had IT and worked on DreamBox, RazKids, Pixie and other activities in the Primary folder on our computers. Afterwards, we learned all about capacity and determine which containers could hold more. We read a story about Ripley the Fish, and had some practise! Notes: Tonight's homework is to practise the weekly words and RAP. Also, Thursday is the Spring Concert! Have a fantastic night! Mrs. Reid Happy Friday families! We had a fun and fabulous Friday! We started with our Spelling test - great job kiddos! Then we had our calendar and RAP. We spent most of the day focusing on our Earth Day Posters and brainstorming some more ideas! They are starting to look fabulous! Both classes got together to practise for our upcoming Spring Concert with Ms. Konopka! Also, we practised our school-wide Lockdown procedure in case of emergency. I was so impressed with how serious the grade 1 students were. Notes: This weekend's homework is To complete the Sharing book. Have a lovely weekend! Mrs. Reid |
